「臺頑少年郎千禧世代」今年參與由NCSS (National Conference of State Society)所主辦華府日本櫻花節。此國際櫻花小姐活動已辦理78年，為華府年度重點外交活動之一，每年邀請來自美國50州櫻花小姐前來華府進行參訪國會、各大使館、慈善晚宴及櫻花祭大遊行等，拜訪美國政要及各國使節，進行多方交流。
今年的活動突破傳統，首次增加「臺灣櫻花小姐」名額。甫獲選2022年華府地區國際青年大使吳柏萱雀屏中選，代表臺灣加入櫻花小姐行列，與各州代表及日本代表一齊進行國際多元交流，藉此提升臺灣國際能見度，並於系列活動中推廣臺灣文化。
開幕日當天舉行石頭燈籠點燈儀式，邀請華府多位主流人士出席，包含NCSS名譽顧問暨在美日本大使館聯絡官Akiko Keene、國際事務協會華府分會秘書長 Christine Warnke 等。華府地區僑務委員陳桂鈴、僑務顧問孟棋然、僑務促進委員唐伯禹、李欣怡及黃凱峰應邀出席，另臺灣國樂團亦獲邀請擔任開幕表演嘉賓。
儀式邀請到2022年華府櫻花公主及2023年日本櫻花公主共同點燈，此石頭古燈已有375年歷史，為日本於1954贈予華府之禮，重4000磅，佇立於華府市中心。開幕儀式後將展開為期一周櫻花節慶祝活動，以及櫻花公主外交參訪行程，華府文教中心則為其中一站，將安排公主團參訪中心並進行臺灣文化導覽。

MGY is participating this year in the Washington D.C. Japan Cherry Blossom Festival hosted by the NCSS (National Conference of State Societies). This International Cherry Blossom Princess activity has been held for 78 years and is one of Washington D.C.'s key annual diplomatic events. Each year, it invites Cherry Blossom Princesses from the 50 US states to visit D.C. for activities including congressional visits, embassy visits, charity galas, and the Cherry Blossom Grand Parade, allowing them to meet US political figures and diplomats from various countries for extensive exchanges.
This year's event breaks tradition by adding a "Taiwan Cherry Blossom Princess" slot for the first time. Claire Wu, who was just selected as a 2022 Washington D.C. Area International Youth Ambassador, was chosen for the honor of representing Taiwan to join the ranks of the Cherry Blossom Princesses alongside representatives from various states and Japan for diverse international exchanges. This aims to enhance Taiwan's international visibility and promote Taiwanese culture during the series of events.
The opening day featured a stone lantern lighting ceremony, attended by many mainstream figures in Washington D.C., including Akiko Keene, NCSS Honorary Advisor and Liaison Officer for the Japanese Embassy in the US, and Christine Warnke, Secretary-General of the World Affairs Council Washington D.C. Chapter. K.L. Chen, Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) member for the D.C. area, OCAC advisors Chi-Ran Meng and David Tang, and OCAC accelerators Hsin-Yi Lee and Kevin Huang were invited to attend. Additionally, the Taiwan Band was invited as the opening performance guest.
The ceremony invited the 2022 Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom Princess and the 2023 Japan Cherry Blossom Princess to light the ancient stone lantern together. The lantern is 375 years old, a gift from Japan to Washington D.C. in 1954, weighs 4000 pounds, and stands in downtown Washington D.C. Following the opening ceremony, a week-long series of Cherry Blossom Festival celebrations and diplomatic visits for the Princess group will commence. The Culture Center of TECO in Washington D.C. will be one of the stops, arranging for the Princess group to visit the center and receive a guided tour of Taiwanese culture.
