The Millennial Global Youth Foundation (MGY) is honored to announce that Claire Huang, a student representative from Maryland, served as the 2025 Taiwan Cherry Blossom Princess at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.
Claire joined princess representatives from all 50 U.S. states at the historic Twin Oaks Estate on April 8, participating in a series of cultural exchange activities co-hosted by the National Conference of State Societies (NCSS). The event marked Taiwan’s growing visibility on the international stage and underscored the importance of youth leadership in diplomacy.
A sophomore in the Humanities Magnet Program at Poolesville High School, Claire is actively engaged in both academics and extracurriculars, serving as executive editor of the school literary magazine and captain of the junior varsity field hockey team. As this year’s MGY Youth Cultural Ambassador, she represented Taiwan with thoughtfulness, grace, and enthusiasm.
Claire helped promote Taiwanese culture by offering specially curated gift packages featuring traditional pineapple cakes and Taiwan-themed mini tote bags. These gifts, along with her warm interactions with princesses from other states, allowed participants to experience the richness and creativity of Taiwanese culture firsthand.
Claire also attended the Congressional Reception at the U.S. Capitol, where she joined dignitaries and fellow princesses in commemorating the long history of cherry blossom diplomacy. The Japanese Ambassador’s opening remarks reflected on the origin of the program and praised the expanding circle of friendship now including Taiwan.
Through her participation, Claire not only elevated Taiwan’s visibility but also exemplified MGY’s mission: to empower Taiwanese-American youth through leadership, cultural engagement, and public service.
